Mastodon Stampede Run & Walk Club

Circa. 1926

A prehistoric animal called a mastodon was discovered in Johnstown, Ohio on August 12, 1926 by tenant farmer James Bailey on the farm of Mr. Friend Butt.
The skeleton of the mastodon now lives in the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.

The MASTODON RUN & WALK CLUB is new to the Johnstown community. The inaugural 5K run and walk (trek) started May 6, 2024.

Club participation is free. All you need to do is show up and get moving. Improve your health. Improve your stamina. We will do it together.

MASTODON STAMPEDE RUN & WALK CLUB

5K LET’S TALK HEALTH

The 5K LET’S TALK HEALTH is a collaboration with the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center in New Albany, where their health experts periodically attend our run & walk club Treks to share heath and disease prevention information.

The health talks are facilitated in a casual manner where the OSUWMC Health Expert shares health information while running or walking with the MASTODON RUN & WALK CLUB. The members can ask as many questions as they want to learn more about the particular subject or ask any health questions they would like.

The mission is to educate and motivate our community members to take control of protecting and improving their health.

The inaugural October 12, 2024 event was held at the Johnstown High School Football Stadium Track to introduce the event to the public.

Future 5K LET'S TALK HEALTH event dates and locations will be announced soon.
